The Apprentice Returns: But it’s all about the ‘brows

Let’s face it, The Apprentice has never really been about business. Most of us watch it just to laugh at what freaks the BBC have managed to dredge up.

But this year’s opener has proven to be the funniest yet. Business is the last thing on viewers minds once they lay eyes on what can only be described as the most bizarre set of eyebrows that television have ever broadcast.

Alex Mills – whose new nickname is now “Johnny Eyebrows” from Cardiff should probably think twice before sharing the name of his local eyebrow salon for fear of putting them out of business.

Alex was (unsurprisingly) amongst the most talked about contestants on twitter with 11,000 tweets last night about his eyebrows alone. 11,000!! He was also topic of conversation on Dara O Brian’s BBC2 Apprentice sister show You’re Fired!, where his striking look was compared to that of a certain well-known blood-sucker – Dracula.

Although we shouldn’t let #eyebrowgate take away the ridiculousness of the show’s self-aggrandising audition claims, like “I’m business perfection personified”, “My intelligence is like a machete in the jungle” and the frankly scary “I’m prepared to fight to the death to become Lord Sugar’s business partner”

We can’t wait to see how far Alex and his facial caterpillars go.
